Masking Tape
Masking tape consists of a paper backing with a rubber latex adhesive applied to one side. Crafted with a pressure-sensitive adhesive on easily tearable paper, the key feature of masking tape lies in its sensitive adhesive. This unique quality enables the tape to be effortlessly peeled off surfaces without leaving any residue or causing damage.
Masking tape exhibits a range of adhesive strengths, with ratings ranging from 1 to 100 based on the intensity of the adhesive. The standard painter’s masking tape typically holds a rating of 50, while lower-rated masking tapes are suitable for household applications.
Additionally, masking tape is classified by the duration it can be left in place without causing damage, marks, or residue on the surface. Tapes rated for 7 and 14 days are the most commonly chosen and purchased options.
